My second week at AYA was even more informative than I could have ever hoped for, and I had a wonderful experience. It has been a thrilling and eye-opening experience with numerous moments that pushed me to think more critically about historical records and how we relay information in today’s world. The entire program has opened my eyes and mind with field trips, classroom discussions, and with hands-on podcasting instruction that all provided me with new eyes through which to see and think about the world around me. The field trip to the Natural History Museum was the absolute highlight of the week and one of the most eye-opener experiences to date. Walking along the museum was like being in another world. The exhibit on dinosaurs particularly awed me since it displayed how huge and strong ancient animals used to inhabit the planet back in the early …

Getting in the Feels
This is my USC AYA Reflection for Week 2. Balance is often thought of in pairs: on, off; chaos, order; logic, emotion. And through this week’s lessons, I have come to understand how this applies to media as well. From the lectures to the museum visit, this week has taught me the impact behind storytelling …

REFLECTION FRIST WEEK AT AYA- Jaden
Being in college journalism class has been the most exciting and rewarding experience of my life. From the first day, I knew this was going to be something other than what I was used to at high school. It was new, demanding, and more mature—but a good kind of mature. I’ve always been curious about …
Week 1 at AYA
One of the most significant aspects that impressed me about the session was finding out Megan’s experience arriving at KTLA. She shared her own journey, how she became to be who she is today, and it assisted me in comprehending the experience and sacrifices one can have in journalism. What her journey did was remind …
Static
My memory is a bit fuzzy regarding this past week so bear with me. I know it may seem vague but the only word I can use to describe this week at USC is different. I hadn’t been surrounded by this college environment until this very moment and it has delivered me an experience I …
New foundations: Rocky Road
Life is quite the roller coaster and this was no different. The first few days were hard and took a lot of time to acclimate and get used too; however, I’ve been able to power through it and preserver. It just provides me with more a reason to get better and keep striving for higher …
Trying New Things 101
As I walk to the AYA building, I can feel my palms sweating. I nervously swallow as I walk in, and strange faces greet me, but one familiar one. After a rough breakfast and icebreaker, I settled into our new class and welcomed the start of a new routine, new experiences, and new knowledge. There, …
