This short lived time period concluded the 3rd week at AYA. Time has gone so fast, this program has gone so fast. Words cannot explain how sad yet proud I am of this amazing opportunity coming to an end. This week we focus on more of an action discussion rather than a talking session. We have began to combine both the aspects of what makes of two different forms of civic engagement. Both brought such fun adventures to the table and open yet another aspect of my dream school USC.
My time for the search of college is almost up. As a rising senior, I really must begin to decide what colleges I’d like to apply to. Ranging for the various colleges California has to offer. Ranging for UCLA, MSMU, UCSC, Berkeley, to USC and many more I have a lot of options. I have always dreamed of going to a university. The best one I possibly could no matter what. I have always dedicated myself to my education and circling back, SC became my dream school. I’m not truly sure why it stood out to me when it came to college but I knew it was my top choice. Unaware of what I want to major in, it still remained my number one. Attending SC these past few weeks reminded me why. Walking around the campus, finally fitting in and getting comfy, reminded me why. The locality reminded me why. The large yet tight knit campus reminded me of why I had dream of SC as an elementary student. Another reason being making my loved ones proud. Being a first gen is not a joke. Yes there is a substantial amount of pressure on you to succeed but it feels good if this is your calling which is subjective to an individual. A part that stuck out to me was this part of the guest speakers of this week. The AYA alumni. 4/5 students got rejected form SC. That made me sad. But that is not going to stop me.
In our comms class, we got to learn yet about more aspects of what it mean to be active in our society using media. We used AI to see if our imagination resonated with the image produced with the site. In our Jounalism class, we began and produced our 2nd broadcast! We improved from the first one by a lot (I feel like it). But again, it was a fun experience getting to work with a script we made ourselves and seeing it come to life! We even saw our first broadcast on Wednesday day! It was funny and crazy how we all made that, on screen or not. We all had a part in it. OOO me and some classmates also had a little adventure at Doheny Library. We were able to enter and explore to magic inside of the building.

Once again, back to a food review of the week! Monday’s food was not that memorable. It was a salad and some chicken I believe. It was definitely tasty but not my favorite of this entire program. Now on Tuesday my Mexican culture approved of the food. We had a taco buffet which was absolutely delicious. It was perfection. Everything about it was mwah chef’s kiss. And lastly on Wednesday, we went to EVK. It was much better than my first visit. The food was delicious and I enjoy the blue Powerade they offer there. I will definitely miss that being in the soda dispensers. Thank you so much for tuning into my experience this 3rd week at AYA :)!
