The Summer @ USC I turned: Inspired!

“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are”

Throughout my journey at AYA so far, I feel as if I “grew up”. Running to catch the train everyday, spending time alone after class at the Village. Meeting new people, and having meaningful conversations. Many aspects of this week has encouraged me to go for my dreams, and reach who I really am.

Day 1:

After a morning of Communications and brainstorming for our video, we had a bit of free time. I truly felt like a college student; working outdoors with a group of friends, and being productive while soaking up the sun. To be honest, this really inspired me to continue to work hard through high school because soon, I will be experiencing the college life, which I’m so excited for. We had a delicious lunch per usual, and moved on to Journalism class. We did a fun news situationer activity, where we were tasked to decide which transportation would go to which scene to report news. After, we learned about photography. I’ve always been interested in photography, but didn’t really understand any technical aspects of it. We then started on our newscast.

Day 2:

If “inspiration’ could be defined with a day, Tuesday would’ve been the epitome of inspirational. We split into groups for a project during Comms 101. Then, AYA alumni came to speak to us. From words of wisdom, to AYA experiences, being able to hear from these alumni really was such a valuable time. Each and every one of them has gone on to do extremely amazing things, and it just felt like an honor to have participated in the same program as they once have. I’m glad I got to network and get their LinkedIn’s or Instagram’s! Right after the panel, we had possibly the best lunch so far! As if the day couldn’t get any better, we got to check out professional cameras! With the technology of a real camera, I feel inspired to pursue different art forms such as videography, since I now have the equipment to make it as high quality as possible.

Day 3:

On the third day of the third week, I started my day with a delicious matcha from Coffee Bean. I’ll truly miss my daily coffee runs, although my card balance won’t! We worked in our groups for a bit, while I edited my video. Then, we had a fun bingo game, where we got to learn fun facts about our classmates. Lunch at EVK was interesting, all I can say is dining hall food is better than school cafeteria food. During journalism, we filmed a newscast. I wasn’t in the room this time, but it was cool watching my classmates filming, I can’t wait to see the final result! We ended class a bit early, so I went to the village to hangout for a bit.

I can’t believe we only have one week left. These weeks have gone by so fast, and I really hope I can savor every single inspiring moment.

Fight on!
