2nd Beginning

2 weeks down, 2more to go! It’s astonishing how fast these weeks has been going. As we moved on further more into the week the information begins to multiply. This week started and ended as an eye-opener for me in every aspect and will stick with me for a long time. Not only did communications and journalism open my eyes but the guest speakers as well. We always have great guest speakers that come and talk to us, their words touch me in every way. Mentally and physically.

Everyday was a new learning experience for me and unlocked a new part of me each time. We learned about a deeper meaning about communications. Every message that is seen in media is constructed. All messages are intentional and are meant to reach the youth. The reasoning is because we are more susceptible and are attracted to things that are appealing.

We had this wonder speaker come in and talk about the history of crump and how it first originated in Los Angeles. He showed a short documentary he produced with the creator of crump. Crump is a hip-hop dance people used in order to express their aggression. After awhile crump started to become world wide, I think it’s crazy how one person can make a dance spread across the whole world. The creator now has her own dance class were she teaches crump to college students who take dance. Crump is not only a dance but it’s a type of media for communication.

I would also like to appreciate how good the lunch has been this past week. I recognize that each day we had different types cultural food which I loved. I enjoy expanding my horizon and trying new things because you might enjoy it. That’s also how I feel about this program, I truly love it so much and I’m glad that I decided to give it a chance. One day we had food from Central America another day it was Chinese. I can’t really remember what the other days were but I know it was delicious.

Journalism has also been really great. We received a lot of hands-on experience and learned tips and tricks about news broadcasting. We learned to understand the importance between important news and not important news. News have a certain ranking where if it harms a bunch of people and is relevant to people in your area it will most likely be before sports or entertainment. Professor decided to test our knowledge and let us create our own script for the latest news that’s trending. On Thursday was the day where our scripts became reality by actually broadcasting the news.

It’s amazing how much we did in one week and how we constantly learn in different ways. I’m excited to continue my journey in learning more in communications and journalism. This is the end of my reflection for week 2. I will return next week with another reflection so stay tune and I hope you enjoyed this one.
