New Projects and New Friends

This week flew by really quickly because we had the first two days off for the 4th of July holiday. Though the week was short a lot happened in the three days we spent on campus.

As a class we wrapped up our previous projects and begun working on our finals for the program. In Communications we got sorted into groups with ended up working out great because I was placed in Team Dog with my friend. The rest of Team Dog and I settled on making an informational zine for our final project. I am particularly excited for this because it sounds fun and like a great opportunity for us to be as creative as possible

For Journalism, we have been working on our final project for quite some time which is an article on a political topic of our choice. Initially my article began with the perspective that Catholicism is a driving force in the pro-life community but after a few interviews and more research I realized that wasn’t exactly true. Though the roots of Catholicism believes that life begins at conception and looks down upon abortion, the religion is evolving to be more morally and politically correct with its interpretations and teachings. Because of this I knew I would have to adjust my angle which was a scary thought at first but once I inserted more quotes from my interviews and facts, I realized all I really needed to do was change the title and my lede.

So far I have had a lot of fun working on the projects but another bigger event from this week is all the new friendships and bonding experiences. All the new projects and most recent fieldtrip allowed me to become more familiar with a lot of my peers. The people I have met through the program are great and I am sad that it will be coming to an end soon but I intent on enjoying my last week as much as possible.
