Are you the type of person who donates change at the grocery store when checking out? Or perhaps the type of person who organizes blood drives? Maybe the person who digs deep into questions like “Why are there so many homeless on the street?” and find the root of the problem to fix it? If you didn’t know, there are ways to classify the type of citizen you are when it comes to how you civically engage with you community.
The Three Types
In theory, there are three types of citizens when it comes to civic engagement. There is the “personally responsible citizen”, the “participatory citizen”, and the “justice-oriented citizen.
The “personally responsible citizen” tends to be the person who gives back to their community in small but impactful ways. Some examples of this could be donating to charities, volunteering, being eco-friendly, following the laws, etc. This kind of citizen comes of to me as a citizen of calmness and kindness with good morals.
